Health Sciences is an introduction into the medical field. This is a two year course which provides the opportunity for students to gain knowledge about the anatomy and physiology of the human body in addition to the diseases and disorders. During their second year of this course, students have the opportunity to job-shadow the various careers in the medical field through clinical experience, college tours, and healthcare professional speakers. This course equips students who desire to become a healthcare professional with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to continue their pursuit in the field of medicine. Students often describe this class as stressful yet informational, fun, challenging, and beneficial.
Students compete in HOSA-Future Health Profession. HOSA is the student organization for students enrolled in Health Sciences or those students who desire to become a healthcare professional. This organization is student led and promotes awareness of various healthcare issues. It provides scholarship opportunities through competitive events and academic excellence.
